We will sprinkle unrelated tips throughout the column to keep it ineresting and quidk pacec.
here are two tips tha everyone should know:
1- Adding carefully posed and selected pictures to ads wil help make them more
friendly and believable and draw attention to the product.
A wholesome, clean cut picture of any thing can affect the publics image of you.
2- When giving out cards consider giving the recipient 5 or 6 cards and ask them to pass them along to any intereseted parties. Tell them how you appreciate it.
This column will be ongoing and will grow with monthly installments.
This is a marketing technique within itself becaue it wil provide sales managers a reason to refer their people to it and consequently increase our traffic.
1-The two main purposes of advertising are to inform the public that your product exist and secondly to motivate them to use it.
You know of course what happens when you do not advertise ---nothing!!!
2- The first problem is telling the public about your existance based on a budget.
When I first worked in broadcast before cable (B.C.), my town had three major television stations and two newspapers. We had a monopoly on advertising but the clients had a good deal becaue they knew that using the three stations would assure them of hitting 100% of the population.
I remember attending a meeting with the people out of the northwest who told us of this new media outlet called "cable".
Immediately the problem for large advertisers was how to spread their monies to hit the entire audience. Some people were now watching sports and movies and dozens of other options at 6 PM. instead of being forced to watch the news.
But small advertisers had mostly been limited to print media and radio.
The small businesses could now afford a few spots in cable networks and everyone, both big and small, now had to use demographics to focus their money on specific audiences.
There was no need for the advertier to buy the entire population if they were marketing a product to a specific group of consumers.
Then we had the addition of the internet about 20 years later and although it was a fantastic breakthrough, especially for the small business, a whole set of misconceptions arose about its potential.
As you may have seen mentioned several times on this site, a search of "Piano teachers Birmingham' will produce over 77,000 options.
Unless you have the money to buy specific positions in the search engines, you may never be found.
The purpose of the web generally is not to promote as much as it is to support.
Another problem about the web is the specifics of the ad.
I was told of a company called "Print Smart" or was it "Smart Print"?
I could not remember it later .
I assume their site is one or the other.
Alabmas Best Websites. com by the way answers to both names--
Alabamas Best Websites . com AND Best Alabama Websites. com
Savy technocrats do not even use the address bar.
They print the key words then decide based on the results of the search engine.
They still have the problem of wading through 77,000 sites to find you.
I have been looking for a small business on the web for several months.
They said they have a blog (explained later) and I know their product and the owners first name.
But I do not know the name of the blog so I cannot find them!!!
And spelling is another problem, and some companies have extra tags on the end of their name becaue someone else took the simple name such as "Thomas tractors al. com" because someone ele had taken "Thomas Tractors. com
There are other problem that all led the creation of "Alabamas Best Websites.com
It is easy, if you meet someone or especially if you are o the phone, to tell themto just lookyou up on "Alabamas best websites.com" and click on contractors, gardners, etc. .
