Noble Goal!
Entertaining movies that educate!
During the bi- centenial of the United States, in 1976, several broadcast stations presented series of movies about presidents.
These were not considered "educational" films, but "dramas" produced for entertainment purposes.
One film, for example, was an old black and white film about Andrew Johnson.
It had appeared in the movie theatres in the mid forties.
Then there was the excellent series that C-Span did on the presidents , in which they visited the birthplaces and interviewed experts about each president.
Even magazine shows such as "CBS Sunday Morning" offers entertaining 10 or 15 minute segments on arts, science and dozens of topics that would serve as a valuable educational resource.
There are possibly hundreds of these and other entertaining and educational in the archives of movie studios and broadcast networks --that if made available- would be a great educational tool.
There are probably already organizations that have information about these works.
One of the goals of this site is to find those groups and report their results to you.
